How to submit a store to Online Shops
Directory (OSD)
You should take a few moments to understand the steps to submit
a store before you begin. Failure to understand and follow these
instructions generally will result in the rejection/delay of a submission.
Step One
Determine whether a site is appropriate for submission to the OSD:
- Do not submit mirror sites. Mirror sites are sites that contain
identical content, but have altogether different URLs.
- Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content
as other sites you may have listed in the directory.
- Do not disguise your submission and submit the same URL more than
once.
Example:
http://www.yourdomain.com
and
http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html
- Do not submit any site with an address that redirects to another
address.
- Do not submit sites "under construction." Wait until a site is
complete before submitting it.
- Find the single most appropriate category for your store/service.
With few exceptions, stores are listed in the "OSD" directory in one
category only.
- Submit your site using your main url. With few exceptions, we do
not deep link sites in Shopping.
- Use your actual business name as the title.
Example:
"Online Shops Directory" not "Online Shops Directory,
online stores, online shopping"
- Create a brief description, under 35 words, listing the current
content of your site.
- Sites that are affiliates or lists of affiliate links that do not
contain original content will not be listed
- Sites which are gateways or splash pages to affiliate sites will
not be added.
Individual distributors for Multi-Level Marketers are not listed in
Shopping.
- Sites which are mainly advertising for a local store and that do
not offer online shopping should be submitted to the appropriate
Regional/ category.
- We accept only websites that sell goods and/or services online.
- All sites submitted are reviewed by the directory's editors. Sites
are listed by the actual business name, followed by a brief
description. This description will be based on the information you
provide and the review of the website. Sites will be placed in the
single most applicable and highest category based on our review.
- Sites which are continually submitted to the directory, using
either a main url, mirrors or sub-pages, will be banned
Step Two
Do a quick search in the directory
to be sure your store isn't already listed. This saves everyone time.
Step Three
Identify the single best category for your site. You should submit
your site to the single most relevant category. Sites submitted to
inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed.
Step Four
Once you've selected the best category for your site, go directly to
that category on Online Shops Directory and
then click "Add
a Store." Follow the instructions on the submission form carefully.
Descriptions of sites should describe the content of the site concisely
and accurately.
Procedure After Your Site is
Submitted
You will receive a confirmation e-mail , that we received your
submission. This e-mail should be
saved because it contains your link ID, your Password and
reciprocal linking information. Which you may need in future if you want
to review your submission, or pay for sponsor link or giving us back a
reciprocal link.
Note: Giving us a reciprocal link will help you rank better on
the most popular stores, Hot Stores, and search results.
An editor will review your submission to determine whether to include
it in the directory. Depending on factors such as the volume of
submissions to the particular category, it may take several days or more
before your submission is reviewed. Please only submit a URL to the Open
Directory once.
Updating Your Store
If a store has been accepted for inclusion in the directory but you
are dissatisfied with how the store is described or titled, you may
click on
Modify Store login using your store ID and password and
make necessary modification. Your new submission will be reviewed
before included in directory.
